Stripe Payment Alerts with Zapier (No Server Required)

Stripe Payment Alerts with Zapier (No Server Required)

Stripe webhooks are the “correct” engineering answer. They are also a server to maintain, a signature to verify, and a 3 a.m. failure when the endpoint is down. If you are a solo founder or an ops lead, you often just want: money moved — tell me now.

That search looks like Zapier Stripe Slack, Stripe payment notification Telegram, or failed payment alert without code. Zapier already speaks Stripe. AlertHub turns that event into a durable alert and fans it out to Slack, Telegram, email, WhatsApp, and more.

If you do want a direct webhook with placeholders (no Zapier tasks), use our Stripe source guide and the posts on subscription updates and failed payments. This article is the no-server path.

When Zapier is the right Stripe alerting layer

  • You do not want to expose or host https://yourapp.com/stripe-webhooks.
  • Your “backend” is Notion, Sheets, or WordPress — not a custom API.
  • You already pay for Zapier and live in the editor.
  • You want Filters (only amounts above €100, only incomplete subscriptions).

When you outgrow it (high volume, need millisecond ingest), switch the same AlertHub project to the Ingestion API. Destinations stay put.

Setup

  1. Create an AlertHub project and connect at least one destination. Failed payments should be critical → phone. Use Telegram or WhatsApp.
  2. Accept the Zapier invite and add Send a New Alert. Details: Zapier integration.
  3. Add a Stripe trigger from the table below.

Zaps worth turning on

1. Successful payment (dopamine, and reconciliation)

Trigger: Stripe — New Payment or New Charge (names vary slightly in Zapier).

  • Title: Stripe payment: {{Amount}} {{Currency}}
  • Description: Customer {{Customer Email}} · {{Description}} · {{Charge ID}}
  • Level: info if you have hundreds a day; warning if each sale is rare and should ping the founder
  • Source: Stripe

2. Failed payment (the one that pays for itself)

Trigger: Stripe — Failed Payment / charge failed (or invoice payment failed, depending on the Zapier event list).

  • Title: Stripe payment failed: {{Amount}} {{Currency}}
  • Description: {{Customer Email}} · Failure: {{Failure Message}} · Invoice {{Invoice ID}}
  • Level: critical
  • Source: Stripe Billing

Call the customer or trigger dunning the same day. This is the no-code twin of our critical failed-payment webhook article.

3. New or updated subscription

Trigger: Stripe — New Subscription or Updated Subscription.

  • Title: Subscription {{Status}}: {{Plan Name}}
  • Description: Customer {{Customer Email}} · {{Price}}
  • Level: warning for active on a paid plan; critical for past_due or canceled on a high-value account
  • Source: Stripe

Use Zapier Paths: past_due → critical, active → info.

4. Disputes / chargebacks

If Zapier exposes New Dispute, treat it as critical. Chargebacks have deadlines. A Slack-only Zap that nobody starred is how those deadlines slip.

WooCommerce + Stripe

If checkout is WooCommerce, you can alert from WordPress hooks without Zapier: WooCommerce order alerts. Use Zapier Stripe when:

  • You bill SaaS on Stripe Checkout / Billing, not WooCommerce.
  • You want failed invoices (recurring) that never hit WooCommerce.

Many products do both. Two sources, one AlertHub project, one Telegram group.

Keep Stripe out of public channels

Put customer email in the alert if the project is private. Do not map full card fingerprints or unnecessary PII. AlertHub is for operators; still follow Stripe’s data-minimization habits.

FAQ

Will Zapier delay the alert?
Usually a few seconds. Fine for humans; not a replacement for a fraud-blocking webhook in your checkout path.

Does this replace Stripe emails?
No. Keep Stripe’s receipts to customers. AlertHub is for you.

Can I use Make instead?
Yes — Stripe Watch Payments (or equivalent) → AlertHub module. See Make alerts.

Next steps

Turn on the failed payment Zap first. Connect Telegram. Then add successful payments as info so the dashboard becomes a simple revenue log.
