WooCommerce emails are easy to miss when you are packing orders, running ads, or simply away from the inbox. Store owners search every day for WooCommerce Slack notifications or Telegram alerts for new orders because they want the ping where they already work.
You do not need a dedicated “WooCommerce to Slack” plugin for each channel. The AlertHub WordPress plugin can listen to any WooCommerce hook. One connection, then AlertHub fans the event out to Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, email, Discord, or Teams.
What you can monitor (high-value events)
| Event | WooCommerce hook | Suggested level | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payment completed | woocommerce_payment_complete | Info or Warning | Celebrate (or fulfill) a paid order immediately |
| New order created | woocommerce_new_order | Info | Catch orders even before payment completes |
| Payment failed | woocommerce_order_status_failed | Warning | Recover the sale before the customer leaves |
| Order cancelled | woocommerce_order_status_cancelled | Warning | Spot refund abuse or checkout friction |
| Low stock | woocommerce_low_stock | Warning | Restock before you lose the listing |
Only Warning and Error are pushed to external channels. Use Info if you want a dashboard log of every order without flooding Telegram.
Setup (once)
- Create a project at app.thealerthub.com and copy the secret key.
- Install AlertHub from WordPress.org and paste the key under Tools → AlertHub. Follow the WordPress docs.
- Connect the destinations your warehouse or founder already uses.
WooCommerce does not need a separate integration. If the hook exists, AlertHub can listen to it.
Alert 1: Paid order (the one most shops want)
woocommerce_payment_complete passes the order ID as the first argument ({{0}}).
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Hook | woocommerce_payment_complete |
| Title | WooCommerce paid order #{{0}} |
| Description | Order **{{0}}** just completed payment. Open WooCommerce → Orders to fulfill it. |
| Level | Warning if you fulfill from your phone; Info if volume is high |
Save the alert, place a test order with a sandbox gateway, and confirm it appears in the dashboard.
Alert 2: Failed payment (revenue leak)
Failed cards are silent churn. Stripe and PayPal emails often land in a shared inbox nobody watches on Saturday.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Hook | woocommerce_order_status_failed |
| Title | WooCommerce payment failed #{{0}} |
| Description | Order **{{0}}** moved to Failed. Contact the customer or check the gateway log. |
| Level | Warning |
This is the store equivalent of failed Stripe payment alerts. If you also sell SaaS via Stripe, you can unify both in the same AlertHub project.
Alert 3: Low stock
woocommerce_low_stock runs when a product hits your WooCommerce low-stock threshold.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Hook | woocommerce_low_stock |
| Title | Low stock on WooCommerce |
| Description | A product reached the low-stock threshold. Check Products → Inventory. |
| Level | Warning |
You can run paid ads against a product that is about to sell out. This alert is cheaper than discovering it in a weekly report.
Ideas to squeeze more value
- Fulfillment channel vs founder channel. Send paid orders to a Slack
#orderschannel (team) and failed payments to Telegram (you). AlertHub destinations are configured once; WordPress does not care who listens. - High-ticket only. If you get hundreds of small orders, keep those as
Infoand add a second hook (or a small custom snippet callingAlertHub_API::send_alert) for orders above a threshold. - Multi-store agencies. Give each client shop its own AlertHub project or source name (
Shop Madrid,Shop Mexico). Filter the dashboard instead of mixing 12 WhatsApp groups. - No extra WooCommerce plugin sprawl. Many “notify Slack on order” plugins go unmaintained. A generic hook watcher stays compatible as WooCommerce evolves.
Placeholders
The plugin supports Mustache-style placeholders from hook arguments:
{{0}}— first argument (order ID for payment/order status hooks){{1}}— second argument when the hook passes it- Nested properties such as
{{1.post_title}}on WP_Post objects
Details and examples: WordPress integration. Full hook list: WooCommerce Code Reference.
FAQ
Is this a replacement for WooCommerce emails?
No. Keep customer-facing emails. AlertHub is for operators: you, support, warehouse.
Does it work with checkout plugins (CheckoutWC, Stripe for WooCommerce)?
Yes, as long as they still fire standard WooCommerce order hooks after payment. Test with one real (or sandbox) order.
Can I send the order total in the title?
The default hook args for woocommerce_payment_complete are just the order ID. Put the ID in the alert and open the order in admin, or extend with a tiny snippet that loads wc_get_order( $order_id ) and calls AlertHub_API::send_alert() with the total.
Next steps
Read the plugin documentation, then connect Telegram so the next paid order buzzes on your phone — even if Gmail is closed.
