Shopify emails are easy to miss when you are packing orders, running ads, or away from the inbox. Store owners search every day for Shopify Slack notifications or Telegram alerts for new orders because they want the ping where they already work.
You do not need a dedicated “Shopify to Slack” app for each channel. One Shopify webhook into AlertHub, then the same event fans out to Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, email, Discord, or Teams.
What you can monitor (high-value events)
| Event | Shopify topic | Suggested level | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order created | orders/create | Warning or Info | Fulfill (or celebrate) a new sale immediately |
| Order paid | orders/paid | Warning | Confirm money actually landed |
| High-risk order | orders/create + risk fields | Warning | Review fraud before you ship |
| Inventory update | inventory_levels/update | Warning | Restock before the listing dies |
| Order cancelled | orders/cancelled | Warning | Spot refund abuse or checkout friction |
Only warning and critical are pushed to external channels. Use info if you want a dashboard log of every order without flooding Telegram.
Setup (once)

- Build the webhook URL (widget below, or the Webhook Builder).
- In Shopify Admin go to Settings → Notifications → Webhooks, create a webhook, format JSON, paste the URL.
Full walkthrough: Shopify integration. Then connect the destinations your warehouse or founder already uses.
Alert 1: New sale (the one most shops want)
Shopify’s order payload is mostly flat, so placeholders stay readable.
| Field | Placeholder |
|---|---|
| Order number | {{name}} |
| Total | {{total_price}} |
| Currency | {{currency}} |
| Customer email | {{email}} |
| Gateway | {{gateway}} |
| Financial status | {{financial_status}} |
Save the webhook, place a test order, and confirm it appears in the dashboard.
Alert 2: High-risk order (revenue you do not want to ship)
High-risk checkouts should not wait in a Shopify email digest.
Keep paid orders at info if volume is high, and reserve warning for risk, cancellations, and stock.
Alert 3: Inventory update
Listen to inventory_levels/update so ads do not run against an empty SKU.

Ideas to squeeze more value
- Fulfillment channel vs founder channel. Paid orders to Slack
#orders; risk and cancellations to Telegram. Shopify does not care who listens. - High-ticket only. If you get hundreds of small orders, keep those as
infoand add a second webhook (or a Zapier/Make filter) for totals above a threshold. - Agencies with several shops. One AlertHub project (or source name) per client (
Shop Madrid,Shop Mexico). Filter the dashboard instead of mixing 12 WhatsApp groups. - WooCommerce + Shopify. Same destinations, two sources. WooCommerce shops can use the WordPress plugin.
FAQ
Is this a replacement for Shopify notification emails?
No. Keep customer-facing emails. AlertHub is for operators: you, support, warehouse.
Do I need an app from the Shopify App Store?
No. A native Admin webhook is enough. AlertHub receives JSON and templates the title/description.
Can I include line items?
Yes. Nested placeholders such as {{line_items.0.title}} work. Details: Ingestion API.
