Self-hosted ops already runs Gotify for push on Android and a simple WebUI. The usual trap is one application token per SaaS, then a pile of /message?token= URLs when someone rotates the app.
AlertHub treats Gotify like Discord or Mattermost: you paste one message URL on the project. Sources stay on https://api.thealerthub.com/sendAlert (or email ingest). AlertHub detects Gotify (gotify) and posts JSON with title, message, and priority.
Docs: Gotify destination.
How Gotify delivery works
- In Gotify: Apps → create an application → copy the application token (shown once).
- Build
https://your-gotify-host/message?token=YOUR_TOKEN(keep a subpath if Gotify is not at the domain root). - In AlertHub: project Connections → Gotify → paste the URL.
- Warning and critical alerts become Gotify messages (priority 5 vs 8). Info stays in the dashboard.
The server must be reachable over HTTPS from the internet. A Gotify instance only on LAN will not receive anything.
Setup (once)
- Create a project at app.thealerthub.com.
- Create the Gotify application and paste the message URL in AlertHub.
- Send a test
warningvia the Ingestion API.
Alert 1: Self-hosted on-call on Android
Ops already lives in Gotify. Put Stripe failures, uptime, and GitHub Actions on the same AlertHub project so Gotify is the only extra destination to add.
Alert 2: Gotify + email destination
AlertHub also has an email destination for people who mute the phone. Same sources; Gotify for the pocket, email for the auditor.
Alert 3: Migrate off per-app Gotify tokens
When each vendor has its own application token, rotating the app means touching Stripe, Shopify, and CI. Move ingest to AlertHub (Shopify, email ingest), then keep a single Gotify URL in Connections.
Ideas to squeeze more value
- Public HTTPS. AlertHub calls Gotify from the cloud. Use a reverse proxy with TLS; do not paste an
http://LAN URL. - Priority. Critical maps to Gotify priority 8 (sound on Android); warning maps to 5.
- Same pattern as Mattermost. If a second team still uses Mattermost, add the Mattermost destination on the same project.
FAQ
Is Gotify a first-class destination?
Yes. AlertHub formats the JSON payload when the stored webhook is classified as Gotify, same family as Discord and Mattermost.
Does it work with a subpath install?
Yes. Paste https://example.com/gotify/message?token=…. AlertHub matches /message?token= on any HTTPS host.
Do info alerts appear in Gotify?
No. Raise the source level when the phone should see it.
Next steps
Paste a Gotify message URL in Connections, follow the Gotify setup, and send one test warning.
